Dorothy Mead and David Bomberg at Tate Britain

london

Waterhouse & Dodd are pleased to announce that paintings by Dorothy Mead, whose estate we represent, will be included in a major new exhibition titled 'All Too Human' at Tate Britain. The exhibition opens on the 28th February and runs until the 18th August, 2018.

The exhibition explores figurative painting in Britain during the 20th century. Some of the greatest artist of this period will be represented including Francis Bacon, Lucien Freud and David Bomberg. In addition, there will be significant space dedicated to the teaching of figure painting, with particular reference to William Coldstream and David Bomberg. Mead and her close friend Denis Creffield studied under both masters. Works by Bomberg, Mead and Creffield have all been exhibited extensively over the last five years at Waterhouse & Dodd.

Following on from the remarkable David Bomberg retrospective curated by the Ben Uri Gallery at the Pallant House Gallery (and currently touring other venues in Britain), this is another timely reminder of Bomberg's singular talents and lasting influence. It is also a welcome promotion of those artists who studied under Bomberg at the Borough Polytechnic. Works by Mead currently in stock can be viewed here

If you are interested to learn more about David Bomberg, Dorothy Mead or the Borough Group (and associated artists) please contact Jamie Anderson (+44 20 7734 7800) for more information. Waterhouse & Dodd have published a number of significant catalogues on these artists, many of which are available for sale through the Tate Britain book shop, and always hold a good stock of works by the principal figures which are often sourced directly from the artist's studios or estates.
