Karen Gunderson in conversation with Michael Brenson at the New York Public Library

New York

On Wednesday 28th September, 6-8 pm.

Celebrating the publication of Elizabeth Frank's Karen Gunderson: The Dark World of Light, Gunderson will discuss her unique contribution to contemporary art with critic and art historian Michael Brenson.

The monograph features over 100 illustrations that show how Gunderson pushes the possibilities of black paint to the limit and considers her innovative position within a lineage that includes abstract artists Ad Reinhardt and Pierre Soulages. It is written by author and critic Elizabeth Frank, who won the Pulitzer Prize for her biography of poet Louise Bogan.

Gunderson's forthcoming solo show will be held at our New York gallery from 7th-29th October.
