RAY WATERHOUSE has 40 years’ experience in the international art market, and he relocated to New York in 2011. In 1974 he was awarded a First class Degree in History of Art and History at University College, London, specialising in European painting1850-1920 and American art 1940 - 1970. Ray began art dealing three months after graduating and in 1981 became Managing Director of Galerie George in London, dealers in 19th and 20th century paintings. He left to form Waterhouse & Dodd in 1987. Ray's main roles involve buying paintings for the galleries, advising major clients on purchases and acquisitions, and running Fine Art Brokers, our art advisory business. He is increasingly involved in contemporary art. While in New York he spends at least 2 hours a day evaluating possible purchases for the galleries and for our clients. His search for paintings involves much travel in USA, Europe and Middle East. He has helped form a number of important collections of 19th and 20th century art in his role as an advisor.
