Sol Lewitt

American (1928-2007)

Sol LeWitt was born in Hartford, Connecticut in 1928 and relocated to New York City in 1953 to pursue his artistic career. Since 1965, his work has been the subject of over 500 solo museum and gallery exhibitions worldwide and, at the time of publication, is currently on view at Museum Leuven in Belgium and the Pompidou-Metz in France. LeWitt’s work has also been exhibited at the Museum of Modern Art in New York, the Tate Gallery, London, and the San Francisco Museum of Art. His work is featured in many important public collections including the Guggenheim, New York, the Hirshhorn Museum and Sculpture Garden in Washington, D.C., and the Centre Georges Pompidou in Paris.
