ERNST-LUCIEN BONNOTTEFrench 1873 - 1954

Ernst-Lucien Bonnotte was born in 1873 in Dijon. He is most commonly known for his landscapes and genre scenes.

Bonnotte trained with Émile Charles Dameron at the École des Beaux-Arts in Dijon and with Léon Bonnat and Albert Gleizes in Paris. He began exhibiting at the Salon in 1900, received an honourable mention in 1902 and was made a member in 1904.

His paintings are composed of small touches of pure colour, in a technique similar to that of the Divisionists and which echo the theories and work of his tutor, Gleizes.
