Bela de Kristo was the pseudonym of Bela de Kristofy, who, despite being born in Hungry on 15th May 1920, spent most of his working life (from 1947) in France. He studied at the School of Fine Art in Budapest. On his arrival in Paris, he quickly became acquainted with other like minded artists, including Survage, Lamert-Rucki, Lhote and Vertes. He practised a stylised, colourful post-cubism and exhibited (from 1948) at the Raymond Duncan Gallery.
